Yukon Sights by Sue Thomas

Whitehorse to Kluane Lake, Alaska Highway

19 July 2011 - Tuesday

Only two directions to go ... south to Whitehorse or north towards Alaska.

The truck turned north with the plan to overnight at our favourite campground, Congdon Creek Yukon Gov't Campground on the shores of Kluane Lake.

The afternoon by the lake was beautiful!

The hiking along the shoreline is good when the water isn't too high.

This time of year the fireweed is blooming brilliantly.  Often we're visiting during the fall months after the fireweed has gone to seed and is white.

The evening was quiet and warm.  Even so, a fire was lit and we enjoyed a nice night out with few flying insects to bother us.
