The camera gear has upgraded through the years:
1993-2001: film camera so the images are scanned
2007-2008: Canon A70 - 3.2 megapixel point & shoot
2009: Canon S5IS - 8.0 megapixel point & shoot with extended zoom
2010: Canon 7D DSLR, 18 megapixel and 10-22mm, 24-105mm & 100-400mm lenses
2011: Canon G12, 10 megapixel point & shoot
2013: Leica V-LUX 4 superzoom, 12 megapixel point & shoot and retired the G12 because of a lens scratch
Many of the images on my website are taken out the truck window while Steve drives. In 2011, the G12 became my primary "point & shoot". It has a hybrid image stabilization feature which is very effective for shots out the truck window. In 2013, the Leica replaced the G12, which has been retired.
Some of you wonder about whether I use a tripod with the 100-400mm lens. I have a tripod but use it only when shooting northern lights. Typically, my shots are handheld. Sometimes using the truck, a tree or a rock for stabilization.
Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom for photo editing.
With the 7D, I shoot in RAW format and use Canon's Digital Photo Professional to convert from RAW to jpeg format. The Leica will shoot RAW but for images on the fly, it works superbly in full dummy mode, which also means only jpeg format.
My website was set up in Microsoft's Expression Web. I created the "template". My intent was to make it easy-to-read (large text in a serif typestyle), easy-to-navigate (left and right menu bars), and simple.
No flash. No java. Plain & simple. It works.
My webhost is HostPapa - affordable & reliable. My website is
not hosted on a blog site which typically provide templates for ease
of use for those not familiar with html coding.
