Morchuea Lake to Kinaskan Lake, BC
on the Cassiar Highway

11 September 2009 - Friday -- Part 1

A beautiful morning on Morchuea Lake!
The lake was calm and the sky blue, despite predictions of rain.

We were a bit lazy getting out of bed, again. The lake stayed calm throughout the morning providing deep reflections of Mt. Edziza.

During our morning meander with the dogs, and as we were preparing to pull out, the neighbouring hunters dropped by to share a couple of lake trout. They had gone fishing in the morning and had too many to eat themselves! The trout would make a nice dinner tonight!

The skies remained bright as we again turned south on the Cassiar Highway with plans to be at Meziadin Lake for the night.

Usually this time of year, the fall colours are beginning to show. Not this year though ... the trees remained green and bright!

Despite the weather forecast of rain, the sun did it best to brighten our day.

At the higher elevations, the fall colours were beginning to show.

We often stay at Kinaskan Lake Provincial Park, but figured we would continue southward since it was not lunch time yet.

The Cassiar Highway makes a subtle change at Kinaskan Lake; southbound the paint lines reappear.
